The Play Date Cafe - colour challenge PDCC103

This is my first time playing along with
challenge blog and I hope
it isn't my last!

The colours we had to use in any project of our choice were
 'Rust', 'Storm' and 'Deep Sea'.

Well that was easier said than done!
Rust was no problem as I had some
 Friendly Plastic and Sari Ribbon
which fitted the bill and became a bodice and sleeves.

The other two colours
Storm and Deep Sea
took me a little longer to come up with, but I eventually settled on
some more Sari Ribbon and thin cotton
which became the skirt.  I also had some Friendly Plastic which
perfectly complemented these colours and that became the
heart shaped hands!

I didn't set out to make a witch, but that's what she looks like to me!

Her face is moulded from air dried clay painted with acrylic,
water colour pencils and a Sakura Jelly Roll pen.
Her hair is fibres and her hat is more of the Sari Ribbon.

I painted on the neck so the head didn't look as though
it was floating in space!
She is glued onto mountboard covered with
old sheet music coloured with paint and edged with a
copper coloured pen.
Only the head and the bodice are actually glued down
so the rest of her can move (not that I've been playing
with her or anything ... cough, cough!!)

I'd never have thought of putting these colours
together, but I do love the combination.

One last photo -
her best withchy pose ...

Thanks for looking - I'm off to find her a broomstick now!

such a wonderful artwork.
I think you put lot of efforts on it, it's full of tiny cute details, like the lace, the face, the hair. brava!

Thank you for your kind words on my blog :-)

She looks like a witch all right, but a pretty one indeed!
I have been dipping my shopping feet and credit card into the mixed media art world, and oh man, there are just as many temptations as in the quilting world. I'll need a second studio soon..
Hope you enjoy your Sunday evening!

Oh Sherry, I love how you placed your paper art doll onto a card. A closer look reveals that she is actually drawn or painted onto the card with the clothes and face 3-D. This is very creative and I love the colors you chose.

Your witchie is fab and derserves to be a winner. Plug. plug!! Seem to be chasing my tail around at the moment. Not enough time for anything and everything to do at once. I have bought some friendly plastic but it is still sat on my desk untouched. Supposed to be making my button tin but keep playing with the buttons I've got for it instead. Hugs Mrs A.
