Birthday Cards for a boy

I had two birthday cards to make for one of my nephews
and I really struggle as to what to do - I much prefer being
given a theme .... so I decided to join in with
which is a colour challenge using Stampotique stamps.
The colours to be used were
pink, purple and black.

I kept the pink to a minimum as the card I made is
for a boy and I'm not sure he'd appreciate too much pink!

The stamps I used were 'Heart Shirt' for the boy image
and for the background, the wings from 'Moon Girl'.
It was coloured with Distress Inks
dusty concorde, milled lavender, spun sugar and black soot.
The wording top and bottom was printed with Xyron runner.

That was my Mum and Dads' card sorted out,
then I just needed to make a card to give to my nephew myself.
He loves watching horse racing and his favourite
race horse is called Kauto Star whose colours are Yellow and Green.

Ages ago I saw a lovely jointed horse on
which I thought would be perfect for a card.
I kept it quite simple, colouring it with watercolour pencils.
I used the Xyron Runner again to print out the sentiment
along the bottom which has a galloping look to it.

The horse templates (there are 3 different ones) are designed
by Ann Wood and you can find the templates on her blog.
She has a selection of decorated horses there
which look really fabulous.

I used two brads to allow the legs to move.

Giddy Up boy!

Thanks for looking :)
