Compendium of Curiosities - Challenges No. 10 to 14

I've missed the last few challenges due to being away on holiday, but have now caught up!  I'll keep this post as brief as possible and let the photos do most of the talking!  All the details are on Linda's blog Studio L3 and all the techniques are from Tim Holtz wonderful book called 'A Compendium of Curiosities'

In reverse order, Challenge No. 14 'Masks Basics' (page 58)

I hope you can just about see the spider's web masking on this Halloween hanging.  It is one of Tim Holtz masks called 'Haunted'.  Once applied to the black background I spritzed a combination of Shimmer and Glimmer mists.

The images are courtesy of Flickr.

Challenge No. 13 'Grungepaper Flowers' (Page 65).  I loved making these - with Tim Holtz / Sizzix 'Tattered Florals' die and distress inks.  I made three simple greetings card.

Challenge No. 12 'Chipped Enamel' (Page 44)

I used a metal flower with distress embossing powder and gold stickles around the edge.  (The glass pebble is one I had left over from last year - the pebble was stuck onto the image with glossy accents).  I've attached a gold ribbon hanger and this will become a Christmas decoration.

Challenge No. 11 'Blended Batik' (Page 36)

This technique used Distress inks and distress embossing ink.  I rubber stamped a bird in a cage over the top for a quick and easy tag.

Challenge No. 10 'Distress Stickles' (Page 46)

I used Tim Holtz / Sizzix 'Fanciful Flight' die and lots of Stickles (it's much more sparkly than the photo shows).  I didn't know what to do for the background so ended up with a simple landscape painted from watered down distress inks.  This will be another greetings card.

That's me up to date with these challenges now - I'll take a little more time and attention with future ones.

Happy Crafting xx

Sherry, it's so wonderful to see you again! I'm thrilled that you're caught up and are diving right back in. You've been a very busy lady!

You a fabulous job on every single one of these!

Your masked spiderweb looks awesome! Its subtlety is what makes it so gorgeous, and the image is adorable.

The grunge flowers are just perfect, and I love how the simplicity of the card backgrounds really allows them to take center stage.

The chipped enamel? Beautiful! Love the bright red and gold, and the sweet little image at the center. It will be stunning on your Christmas tree!

Your blended batik couldn't be prettier! Another brilliant use of color-- it's so rich!

And finally, your Distress Stickle-ized butterfly card is sensational! The colors are YUMMY, and the painted background is AMAZING!

WOW! I feel like I've just visited a really wonderful art museaum! Thanks for all this beauty. ♥
