I'm following the challenges being set by the lovely Linda
on her blog Studio L3 working from Tim Holtz' new book
A Compendium of Curiosities Volume II.
This week's challenge was to follow the
'Shattered Stains'
technique on page 48 of the book.
(Simon Says Stamp will be giving a $25 gift certificate to one lucky,
randomly-selected participant in this week's challenge!)
Here's what I used
The Distress Crackle Paint I used was actually
Clear Rock Candy and not Picket Fence -
I'm not sure how that got into the photo!
The little bottle at the end is a clear nail varnish.
I used Tim Holtz/Alterations Sizzix Bigz die
'Vintage Typewriter'
The crackle paint gave a lovely texture, I didn't think
I'd used a thick enough layer, but was pleased with the result.
I painted over it all with the clear nail varnish to give
it more of a shine.
I stuck the vintage typewriter onto a card
to make a birthday card for my brother in law.
By using the slot along the top of the typewriter
you can make a personalised message emerging from it!
I really love this typewriter die,
and think I'll be using it quite a lot from now on!
Thanks for looking :)

Another great card from the woman who doesn't make cards :-) I love Tim's crackle paints - I should use mine more.
Good Morning Sherry Sweetie...
OMG what a fun share this morning. You did an outstanding job on this project. I love the use of the typewriter, and I have been looking at that as well. (Love Tim Holtz products.)
The crackle paint sure did give it the vintage look that you were after. The little rolled paper just made the whole card. I love it.
Gorgeous job. I love it. Thank you for sharing this morning. I hope you win, but I have a feeling that your BIL will be your #1 fan.
Country hugs, Sherry
LOVE THAT TYPEWRITER! Fantastic original idea using the letter. Love it!
p.s. have just posted mine!
What a brilliant birthday card, Sherry! I love the nail polish finish! I am assuming that it can be applied only onto really waterproof inks and paints, or..? I added a glimmery ink onto a flower today which obviously was not waterproof even when dry. Did not look great.
SSD this is fabulous. The detail crackle on the vintge typewriter adds so much detail and gives it life. I can see how this will become a favorite die. Blissful Creating Dear...
