'Simply Square' Crafty Individuals Challenge

I made this birthday card for the first challenge on the
which is based around 'Simply Squares'
and there is a requirement to use at least one
Crafty Individuals product.

I used two products, the first being the beautiful background paper
from 'Book 5' (Travels in Italy), and a rubber stamp from the set CI-238.

I lightly coloured with image with water colour pencils
and matted and layered it with some mirri, vellum and sparkly cardstock.

Around the edge, I laced some green ribbon and made a shabby chic
bow with seam binding coloured with distress ink.

(Now for a bit of self critique)
On reflection I should have left the background card plain
instead of adding the Stickles - I must remember 'less is more'!

It wasn't until I posted the photograph here I realised my square
matts around the image were in fact not very square at all -
I must remember check before glueing down! lol

Never-the-less, I still like the card and enjoyed the challenge.
Thanks for looking x

It's a lovely card Sherry and you shouldn't be too harsh on yourself, it doesn't have to be straight at all, it's called shabby chic after all! Love the seam binding and how you coloured your wonderful image, too!

Your profile made me laugh I could have written it myself too much time blogging and not enough time crafting and as for hubby for thing is at last geting a little piece and quiet.

I think it is just perfect as it is!

I often make my best work when deciding the first piece could have been done differently so it pays to be critical of ourselves at times.

Well this is quite pretty and I love how you framed the image. As far as being square, if you look close at most, honey we aren't perfectly square!

No can do with the beach robes I'm afraid as 'The Doc's camera at the time was a 35mm and every thing is on slides. Will see what I can do with the dress, though it will be in black/white ( cos couldn't afford colour pics). The other answer is 23.
Now this is going to keep everyone else quessing reading this.
Hugs Mrs A.
