WOYW? Wednesday 71

Or 'What's On Your Workdesk' this Wednesday - the question asked every week by Julia on her blog Stamping Ground

Firstly, thank you if you stopped by last week and left me a comment.  I did manage to visit almost all of the desks last week which was a mammoth task I must say - but well worth it - I love having a nose around!

This week, on my desk is mainly flowers and leaves.

I thought I'd better use some of the new punches I bought recently so made some little Poinsettia flowers.

I punched out a lot of flower shapes from red cardstock then swiped them with a bit of gold brilliance ink.  Stacked them in threes glueing (or is it gluing) together with Glossy Accents.  I sprinkled a few glittery bits in the centre.

They're not the exact flower shape for the Poinsettia, but I think they'll do - I just need to make some dark green leaves to go underneath - then decide what I'm going to do with them!

I've also been making some leaves - after seeing a brilliant tutorial on a new blog I discovered this week called Ink Stains.  All you need is brown paper (I used an old brown envelope), Distress Ink and Glossy Accents - it is really so easy and produces lovely results.

This is the only leaf punch I have, but want to get some more now!

Can I take this opportunity to ask about how you upload your photos onto your Blogger posts?  The reason being I've had terrible trouble with this post - I could only load one photo direct from my hard drive on the post and after several attempts, had to end up using the 'Picasa Web Album' (which I didn't even know I had, and even more surprising to find it had over 700 of my photos already on it!)  It took ages and I just wondered if there was an easier way - I don't normally have problems and can load on as many photos from my hardrive as I like - but not today!!  Oh no sireee - it didn't want to play!!  Any help or suggestions will be gratefully received!

Thanks for looking and I'll try to get around as many of the workdesks as I can!

blogger pictures are hosted by picassa that's why all your photos are already their. If bloggers playing up I go straight to picassa and upload it then go into blogger and choose from picassa web album.

Also most IMPORTANT you need to go to picass and to privacy setting and check the settings, it is default set to anyone can take your photos and do what they want with them, you need to change that to no one can take them they are copyrighted.

Your flowers look terrific - are those the kind of punches which also emboss, and do you mind my asking what make they are?? Can't help with the photo upload although I do find that its important to make the pictures smaller before I try to do so. HTH.

Hi Sherry,
I think your flowers and leaves are beautiful! They remind me of icing flowers I used to make...I'll have to give it a go with paper!
I agree with Rosie, be sure to compress your photos for the web and that way it shouldn't take so long to upload. Also, be careful in Picasa about deleting any photos...I found out the hard way that if you delete them there, they will also be removed from your blog...
Take care,
Angela

aw gawd - the picasa debate - blogger uses picasa as the server storage for your loaded images - whether you know it or not -

soyou need to check your security settings on your picasa account as the default settings may not please you.... -

fab flowers and leaves -

amazing flowers and leaves, with embossing, too! i'm sure they will be beautiful in your Christmas projects. sorry, i've never had problems with putting the photos. i take the photo using a low setting and upload directly from my camera memory card. but all this talk about picasa settings makes me wonder about mine.

I don't know if you make the resolution of the photos smaller but I do this and it doesn't take so long to load.

Blogger did the same with me today.
It is just having a hissy fit. Hopefully it will be better tomorrow.
I will send you an email in a mo with the full instructions about how to set your privacy settings in Picasa that was forwarded to me so you can at least fix that.
Very pretty flowers they look very Christmassy whatever flower they are.

Hiya Sherry - those punched flowers and leaves look loads better than i thought they'd look when they've featured on C&C... and you took such clean photos so close up!!!

Sorry - can't help with the upload of photos as I've so far, not experienced what you have... I also have a picassa account, but i've not got any pics in it - it must be something to do with how i set it up not to store them - and i've certainly made sure that i've set my privacy settings to ensure nothing is shared on the WWW. Hope you get the problem figured out and solved... sorry i couldn't help!

I was here earlier in the week, and for the life of me, could NOT leave a comment. Kept getting that 503 blogger error. Like you, I had NO idea I have a picasa account and wouldn't even know where to look for it.

I think those poinsettias are brilliant. They really DO look like them and are painted similarly, too. Thanks for dropping by earlier in the week. Happy belated WOYWW from #2.
