What's On Your Workdesk - Wednesday week 91 & Mick Jagger!!

I've missed quite a few WOYWWs recently, but I'm back now - yay!!

There wasn't much on my desk so I've neatly arranged a few things (is that cheating!!) so I have something I can share at least!

The large rolled up item I received in the post today from the very talented June from Santa Cruz, CA, USA - I was lucky enough to win one of her giveaways on the recent One World One Heart giant blog hop.
It's a print of her original artwork of Mick Jagger - it's quite stunning and I know I wouldn't be able to photograph it properly so show below the photo from June's own blog.

Isn't that so special - I love it!
June's blog is The Art of June and on her OWOH post she shares her special story of how she found love during last year's event - a real life fairy tale!
Many thanks again June if you're reading this!

So, what else is on my neatly arranged desk!

I've had this book for ages and keep intending to make one of the cloth dolls in it - well, the other day I finally made a start - by tracing and cutting out the paper pattern pieces.   That's as far as I've got though since I now cannot decide which fabrics to use!  I can therefore see this book and the pattern pieces sitting on my desk for a while to come - unless I get my act together!

What else is on my desk?

I bought this magazine from Sainsburys on Monday mainly because I liked the look of the free acrylic stamps on the cover - especially the little bunting!  I'd never heard of it before but that's because it's the very first issue - it's great, full of simple little sewing projects - including how to make a bag from a pair of old jeans and another from a cardigan.  I don't know when (and if even) I'll get around to making some of the projects, but it's a great read anyway.

Why am I telling you all about my desk?  Ask Julia over on her blog
Stamping Ground - you won't regret it!

Yesterday I saw her post about the upcoming second year anniversary of WOYWW and the 'pass it forward' event she's planning.  I've never been involved in a 'PIF' event before but this sounded so exciting I had to make a start on the gift for it immediately!
Using one of the little freebie stamps from the above magazine made including the acronym 'WOYWW' a piece of cake!
Still, no more clues as we're not supposed to reveal our gift until after they've been received!

Thanks for looking and I'll try to get around
as many of the other desks as I can!

Your winning poster is awesome. What is on you workdesk is similar to mine. I think I have the very same art doll book and I have been waiting years for my doll to appear finished and ready to enjoy. :o) Just because I bought the book you mean no doll appears without my making one? Well!
Happy creating...

Maybe I am wrong, but out magazines here in the US, only come with those annoying subscribe ads! The poster is totally cool and what great items you won! Enjoy!

That's an amazing poster Sherry, how many OHOW draws did you win??
When I can't decide on what to choose I just pick one, shut your eyes and point. Then you'll soon know if it's the one you want 'cos if you feel a protest welling up inside then it's one of the other choices that you'd really prefer. So do it again with the materials that are left and by a process of elimination you'll find the material you really do want to use.
I use this method with everything I find myself dithering with, and it always works for me anyway.
If it's a yes or no type of dither, then write yes and no on separate pieces of paper, fold and mix them, pick one randomly and if you get the protest welling up on your choice you know it's the other answer you want :-)
Let me know if you try it and whether or not it works for you. Just don't do it when your tired as your not going to be so good at noticing the protest inside...

I look forward to seeing your doll when it's done. That's funny how you placed something neatly on your desk because its WOYWW. I should have done that but instead I showed a clean desk which won't happen often, if ever again! Thanks for the peek!

Nice to meet you Sherry,
Your desk looks so lovely and tidy. I haven't ever seen the 'Homemade Magazine', I will have to see if I can get my mitts on one.
Keep smiling and creating

Hi Sherry, I can totally relate to the partially undertaken project on your desk. I have a few of those myself. I get something underway and then get stumped on the next part of it and move to something else. I think I'm getting a little more distracted the older I get! Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Love the Mick poster that you won. The new magazine looks interesting, and I have jeans that I would love to make into a bag.
I will have to look and see if we have that magazine here in the states.
I hope you finish your doll that you cut out the pieces for. I have a mermaid doll pattern and the material that I can't tell you how long ago I bought it. Maybe someday, I will come across it, and actually get the doll made.

WOYWW sounds fun! I've never heard of it. What a great idea!
Anyway, love the poster you won, how cool is that! She's so talented!

Had to smile when reading your WOYWW blog - it echoed me in so many ways. I often get a project out that has been sitting in the wings, begin it with all good intentions and then it gets left for a while (some times a long long while).

Thanks for being honest about your "arranged desk" - bet lots do that but don't tell.

Good luck with your new stamps and your sewing. - Hugs

Hi Sherry,
Late posting as have been away doing the dreaded house clearance (FIL's). I don't think he ever threw anything away especially not plastic bags. I now hate plastic bags. I swear the darn things multiplied at night as there were always twice as many the next day!
Enough of that.
Love your Jagger lips poster. Lucky you. Doll art book looks interesting and Fluff had already sent me a link about the new magazine so must keep an eye out for it. Have a great weekend
Hugs Mrs A.
